Assistant Professor, in Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies
Department of Educational Studies

The Department of Educational Studies at Purdue University invites applications for appointment to a 10-month tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Gifted, Creative, and Talented Studies with additional specialization including but not limited to one of the following areas: Program Evaluation; STEM Education; Special Education, or School Counseling. Required qualifications include demonstrated potential for scholarly excellence; a record of successful involvement in P-12 schools; demonstrated excellence in teaching; a strong commitment to research and teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels; and a Ph.D. in gifted education, educational psychology, special education, or related field. Preferred qualifications include (a) a program of research that will attract extramural funding, (b) experience working with inservice and preservice educators, (c) experience working with gifted youth or youth programs, (d) expertise in one or more of the following areas: affective needs of GCT youth, twice exceptional students, underserved populations, or instructional technologies. Duties associated with this position include scholarship, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service.

Job Description: In this tenure-track position, the successful candidate will be responsible for engaging in discovery, learning, and engagement. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to develop a focused program of publishable research, to publish this research in high-quality journals and to seek extramural funding to support his/her scholarly endeavors. Advising graduate students at the Ph.D. and Master's level as well as serving on students' graduate committees is expected. The candidate will teach courses in gifted, creative, and talented education, service courses for the college, and courses in his/her area of additional specialty, and thus contribute to the quality of education at Purdue University. Finally, the candidate will be expected to becoming involved with the engagement efforts of the Gifted Education Resource Institute (GERI) and to participate in service endeavors at the departmental and college levels.
