African Safari:

Come and take a safari each day to learn about the different animals who call Africa their home. Look at the habitats, characteristics, and eating habits of many types of animals. Learn about the food chain and investigate animals from various parts of Africa. Come circle the continent with us on this adventurous safari!

Astronomy:

Look to the sky and learn about the many celestial bodies all around us!  Identify constellations, learn about the life cycle of a star, and explore the phases of the moon.  Learn about planets, meteors, black holes, and other cosmic phenomena!

Arr!  Learn about the people who sailed the high seas long ago.  Did they really wear eye patches and have peg legs?  Is there still buried treasure somewhere out there?  Find out where legend meets reality, and join us in an exciting adventure through history.

Archaeologists uncover and study artifacts from the past to solve the mystery of how people lived, worked and played.  You will be introduced to the tools and methods of archaeology as we study the artifacts our ancestors left behind.  Can you dig it?

Are you excited to learn about how structures are built? Do you like making things with your hands?  Discover how structures have changed throughout history and cultures, from the pyramid to the geodesic dome. Come along as we explore and recreate the design and structure of buildings as diverse as the cultures that created them!

Physics with Toys:

What does a yo-yo have in common with tops, bubbles, and lasers? Why does a spinning top stand up?  Here's a hint: it's the same reason you can ride a bicycle!  Care to create a sonic boom?  You can do it with a simple balloon!  Physics with Toys will examine the laws of nature through the use of common toys.

Into the Earth:

Learn about volcanoes, mountains, and other phenomena that occur when the tectonic plates of the Earth move.  Explore the different layers of the Earth, the properties of different kinds of rocks and minerals, and more.  Discover the geologist inside you!

Kitchen Chemistry:

Can you create your own source of light from something you eat? Can you build a car that moves on its own power? Can you create energy using a turbine? Come explore creative solutions to everyday problems in this hands-on, action packed class!

Geometric Math:

Like shapes? Do you have an interest in modeling and design? Get a jump on the world of geometry by exploring thousands of real world applications. Topics range from architecture to the design of simple machines. Come see how even the most basic shapes serve as the building blocks of our society.

Railway Engineering:

All aboard!  Trains require special tracks to run, and they often need tunnels and bridges to complete their journey.  Learn about the complex problems that can face engineers as they plan a path for trains to take.  Use hands-on activities to explore solutions to these problems.

Animal Habitats:

Learn about the different homes of many animals.  Why does a rabbit have a different kind of home than a squirrel?  Explore how animals adapt to the weather and the environment where they live.

Cooking with Math:

Work with fractions, multiplication, and metric units as you learn how to create dishes with good flavor, consistency, and texture. Discover how the slightest error in their mathematical calculation could ruin a delicious treat.

Twisted Fairy Tales:

Look at classic stories from different perspectives and see how the story can change depending on who is telling the tale.  Write your own twisted fairy tale and show others your perspective on the world!

Weather Wizards:

Why does a tornado twist?  What is the difference between a hurricane and a typhoon? Learn about the different aspects of weather including clouds, thunderstorms, tornadoes, various ways to predict the weather, and much more!  Do hands-on experiments that show the different ingredients that go into forming various weather systems!

Artistic Math:

Create artistic works using mathematical concepts. Design geometric stained glass windows and work with fractions creating flags, quilts, and even fraction sundaes! Blast off into the world of rocketry!  Explore the design and properties of rockets.  Learn what makes a rocket go as fast, far, or high as possible.  Design, build and launch your own rocket!

Writing and Illustrating:

Become a bookmaker extraordinaire!  Learn how one person’s idea can become a beautiful published book!  Follow the process of publishing as you write, edit, and illustrate your own story, while learning about important elements of style and design. 

Economics:

What makes a dollar more than just a piece of paper?  Why can’t you make your own money?  Learn about the meaning of money and concepts such as supply and demand.  Explore what it takes to make a business and how you could sell a product that you create!

In this unique overview of the many schools of engineering, you will begin to make connections between theory and practice and develop understanding of the myriad of ways engineering is used in our daily lives from the very large to the very small. Computer Animation:

Learn how to make your own character using a 3-D modeling computer program. Sketching, modeling, lighting, and an introduction to animation will be covered.

Ancient Civilizations:

Explore the architecture and other science and math practices of ancient civilizations through hands-on projects and the use of technology.  Study the ancient civilization of Egypt in comparison to the Mayans, Incas, and Aztecs. Compare these civilizations to modern day practices in science and mathematics. Explore the world’s first mathematicians and scientists!

Costume Runway:

History and fashion come together! Learn about the history of clothing over the last 2000 years. Bring your creativity and make costumes to show off your skills. Show off your goods in a final runway show! (Supply Fee $10)

Environmentalism:

Many of the Earth’s resources are irreplaceable.  Learn how we can conserve resources by reusing items, recycling, and reducing the amount of trash we throw away.  Find new uses for materials that would otherwise thrown away, and learn how conservation helps the environment.

Imagine a computer chip the size of the head of a pin.  Now imagine one even smaller!  Learn about new advances in technology and how the smallest item can be the most powerful.  Explore the world of tiny technology, and what those microscopic tools could do for us in the future.

Chemistry:

Become a research scientist! Develop and test hypotheses and lab experiments to test your own ideas. Learn and apply chemical concepts to solve problems and identify substances. Supply fee: $10

Clue #1 - From my stance I scan the campus trying to make sure everyone gets to the proper destinations at the designated time. For whom do I toll? I toll for all! Put your problem solving skills to work in a course where cartography takes on time!  Learn about maps and compasses while increasing your deductive skills.  Will you be able to put the clues together and complete the amazing race?

Art Smart:

Bring along your artistic talent for a fun-filled exploration of art styles, cultures, and processes. Paint like Pollock, dabble in drawing, explore printmaking, and much more! You will get to research, analyze, design, and create tons of amazing art!

Forensics:

Cross the police line and put your inner detective to work! Learn how police officers and crime scene investigators put clues together to solve crimes.  Find how fingerprints, fabric fibers, and other nearly-invisible clues can provide evidence to show who really committed a crime!
